Taiyuan, Shanxi Province began to try out a face recognition system for running a red light in May last year, and exposed high-definition photos of illegal pedestrians and related personal coding information on the intersection display screen as a warning.
Among them, high-definition avatar photos including minors will also be directly publicized without coding, causing heated discussion in society. The traffic police department of Taiyuan said on May 27 that there is no age difference in the face of illegal treatment, and they are treated equally.
In order to "strictly guard against" uncivilized and illegal activities such as running red lights, traffic police everywhere are really fighting.
On May 25th, at the traffic lights at the intersection of West Street and Qianfeng South in Taiyuan, Shanxi, uncivilized pedestrians who ran red lights were set up.
All the captured photos were not mosaiced to cover the faces, including several minors, and the illegal photos were directly displayed on the screen together with the ID card photos.
In this regard, it has been suggested that it may be inappropriate to publish the photos of minors directly without processing, and sensitive and vulnerable children may be hurt.
However, according to a report on the 27th Beijing time, the traffic police department of Taiyuan said that there is no age difference before the illegal treatment, and they are treated equally. Whether adults or minors, as long as they run a red light illegally, they will be captured and exposed for about a week.
The Notice on Issues Needing Attention in Investigating Traffic Violations of Non-motorized Pedestrians by Using Face Recognition Technology, issued by the Traffic Management Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security earlier, clearly states that the names of the parties can be disclosed, but personal information such as their ID numbers and home addresses and other information that can identify them can not be disclosed, so as to avoid illegal infringement.
This time, the face recognition system for running a red light in Taiyuan only announced the captured picture of the red light, but did not disclose other information.
The question of "whether the photos captured by minors running red lights should be coded and protected before being made public" has aroused heated discussion among many netizens today.
@ China Police Online and @ Sina Technology also voted online, among which netizens who support "no coding" account for the vast majority.
They agree that Taiyuan traffic police have the same strict requirements for minors, and say that it is because they are children that they need to be guided to form the habit of obeying traffic rules. "When a car accident happens, adults and minors will not be distinguished."
